Thinking Skills Assessment (TSA) Cambridge
|
|

Thinking Skills Assessment (TSA) Cambridge is a testing method to identify applicants’ eligibility and caliber for success in higher education. After extensive amount of research, Cambridge Assessment has designed and developed the TSA that has been used by the Cambridge University since 2001 for admissions into their colleges.

The TSA assesses the applicants’ ability in problem solving and critical thinking in general and is not subject-specific. Therefore, the scores can be used across the wide range of subjects such as Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Land Economy, Natural Sciences (Physical and Biological), Politics, Psychology, and Sociology.

Application Procedure

This test is usually conducted at the time of an interview and does not require any registration by the candidate. The University of Cambridge arrange for their test sitting on their own, if the TSA scores are required as an eligibility criteria during the admission process.

Applicants are required to check the eligibility requirements for their intended course of study with their respective colleges in Cambridge.

Structure of the Test
|
The 90 minutes' test is an online or paper-based test with 50 multiple choice questions and measures problem solving skills, including spatial and numerical reasoning; and critical thinking skills, including understanding arguments and reasoning using everyday language.

Conclusion

Being a successful predictor of students’ potential and their study outcomes, the TSA’s use has been expanded throughout the university. Also, the university has called for a Critical thinking only version to be developed for use in admissions to their Social and Political Science courses of study.
